Atlantis Found
|
|
|
Matt Shumack: Drums
Travis Betts: Bass
James Stefanuto: Guitar
|
|
| Atlantis Found are
trying to bring melodies back into music. They want to push
boundaries in the way Muse used to, but they also want to
add a psychedelic feel to the music like Wolfmother tried
to do. They also want to rock like Jet failed to. From
three people who came together to play music without
knowing each other prior, the dynamic is amazing. They will
endeavour to succeed where others have failed. |

| Assembled together in
much the same fashion as Grinspoon (in record time), Perth
troupe Coral Tree formed with one ideal in mind – to
compose melodic awesomeness. The brainchild of Will and
Josh, two U Dub first-years, it was abundantly clear after
just one duet-infused jam that a certain creative chemistry
was present, and this led to the further recruitment of
Lindsay, Daniel and Rhys, in order to reach a fuller, more
rounded sound. The amalgamation of the quintet came to
fruition in a serene, rural setting (in a galaxy far, far
away, past the seedy Midland train-station, just above the
underground lair of the lurking Boogeyman) where guitars
sang, blood flowed, keys chimed, sweat ran, synthesizers
whirred and hearts and drums beat in perfect unison. |
Culbuirg Pie Festival
|
|

|
|
Arno Rohwedder: Vocals
Andrew Benn: Trumpet
Alex Chetkovich: Harmonica
Ambrose Nock: Guitar
Harry Backhouse: Keyboard
|
| Culbuirg Pie Festival
has a long history of pie baking. The first pie, cooked by
Ambrose, was a tasty chicken and leek number. Number two
was Arno's red wine ensemble. What's next? Nobody
knows. |
Delta House
|
|
 |
|
Cameron Dunne: Vocals &
Guitar
Leon Allison: Lead Guitar
Stu McLintock: Bass
|
| Delta House like to
drink. They also like to rock out. They're still yet to
rehearse together but will do their best to rock your socks
off come August. |
Io
|
|
 |
|
Shelly Mathey: Drums
Brett Stayt: Guitar
Ben Roberts: Bass
Icey Mike: Vocals
|
| Io has been together
(through an array of singers) for about 3 years fiddling
around with covers and discovering a sound that they wanted
to create. That sound being partiucularly difficult to
define. If you considered a medium between Lamb of God,
Mudvayne, Tool and Karnivool, you wouldn't be too far off.
They've been building on a few originals and refining their
skills over the last year and are now ready to take on a
few live performances. |

| The world is in
peril. Gaia, the spirit of the Earth, can no longer stand
the terrible destruction plaguing our planet. She gives
five special rings to five special young people. From
Africa, Kwame with the power of earth. From North America,
Wheeler with the power of fire. From the Soviet Union,
Linka with the power of wind. From Asia, Gi with the power
of water and from South America, Ma-Ti with the power of
heart. With the five powers combined they summon earth's
greatest champion - CAPTAIN PLANET! Formed in August 2008,
this band that does not yet exist shall come together to
form a majestic synergy, not yet witnessed by man. Only

Old Hollywood
|
|
 |
|
Ben Johnston: Guitar, Keys,
Vocals & Harmonica.
Chris Ardley: Drums, Guitar, Bass, Keys, Vocals &
Trumpet
|
|
The first inklings of Old Hollywood began in 2007,
when Chris and Ben decided to score a short film they
were making themselves. Over the course of putting
together about five minutes of audio, they found a shared
love of 60s psychedelia, Mersey/Bristol-beat and
shoegaze, and have since been working on how to deliver
this music in a live setting.
Their solution was to use live looping for both guitar
and drums, allowing them to build up multi-layered
vignettes of sound, and swap between instruments within
songs. Their main building blocks are Ben's textured
palette of guitar sounds and Chris' precisely syncopated
drumming, with a few vintage synths standing in for the
Mellotrons, organs and electric pianos that couldn't be
present. The result is a band that combines the classic
and the cutting edge in a wholly novel and fresh
manner.

mixed-sex 'pop-rock' four-piece outfit that formed in

|
 |
|
Harry: Guitar & Vocals
Bella: Keys & Vocals
Vinnie: Bass
Aber: Saxophone
Neil: Drums
|
| South Street came to
be in the year 2006. Their musical style can be described
as easy listening rock with a funky edge. Harry is the
frontman with the red Fender Stratocaster, with vocals that
have been likened to Springsteen and Gallagher. Bella is
the girl of the band, playing keys and also sharing lead
vocals with her brother. Aber, the band's most recent
addition, kicks arse on barry saxophone giving the music
another dimension. Neil and Vinnie make up the rhythm
section and "live in each other's pockets!" South Street

|
Ejaz Hameed: Vocals &
Guitar
Leigh MacPherson: Lead Guitar
Greg Horley: Bass
Jake Costin: Drums
|
| Stabbing Achilles
(formerly known as In Seventh Gear), formed a little over a
year ago by four young charismatic gentlemen who enjoy
highfiving people and using big words like 'cat' and
'steg'. They sound like something between the Maldives and
Esperance. Live performances include sandwich-making
tutorials, written stand-up comedy and cage fighting...no
seriously, they're pretty lively on stage as long as the
audience is, and enjoying their sound (influenced by bands
like Hot Cross, Air Traffic, Brand New and Fall of Troy).
They hope you have a splendid day! |

Rob Susanto-Lee: Vocals
& Guitar
David Rees: Guitar & Vocals
Julius Susanto: Drums
Kent Burles: Bass
|
| Originally formed in
2006 by Rob Susanto-Lee and Kent Burles, The Tame really
came together when David Rees and Julius Susanto joined the
band in mid-2007. With David's strong indie influences
(Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, Sonic Youth) and Rob's grunge/pop
influences (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) the band evolved a
riff-driven indie sound with understated melodic hooks.
Only recently launched into the local original live scene,
the band has also recorded a new demo, which is available
at gigs. |

Thickets of Alchemy
|
|
 |
|
Andrew Sutton: Guitar
Tom Gregory: Drums
Tom Sullivan: Guitar
Murray Walsh: Bass
Max Haederle: Vocals
|
| Thickets of Alchemy
started off when Andrew Sutton and Tom Gregory ended up in
the same Year 11 Physics class. The two struggled to find a
band name, constantly trying to find one through physics
educational videos. Then one 'fortunate' day they stumbled
upon the term 'the thickets of alchemy'. It was agreed that
this was to be the name... but more affectionately known as
TOA. The two jammed with many different people until
finally Tom Sullivan was chosen as guitarist and singer.
Soon Murray joined on bass and TOA came up with around 10
songs. They recorded 'Child EP' which consisted of five
songs in their very early stages. Around this time TOA were
asked to perform in front of their school. They performed
Neon Wine in front of 1000 bored and tired school boys at
assembly. As school came to an end the band took a bit of a
break. Recently Max Headerle has joined the band as singer
with Sully becoming a 2nd guitarist. |
